Import your clients from another CRM
A CSV from HoneyBook, Dubsado, Studio Ninja or a spreadsheet — with a preview before anything is written.
The importer takes a CSV from more or less anywhere — HoneyBook, Dubsado, Studio Ninja, Táve, or a spreadsheet you keep yourself. It works out which column is which, shows you exactly what it's about to create, and writes nothing until you approve it.
The import sends no email to anyone. Importing a past client does not notify them.
Exporting from your old tool
Export a CSV of your clients, or of your projects if you want session history too.
Check the date range before you export. Reports in most CRMs default to a recent window rather than everything, so an export that looks complete can quietly contain only the last month. Set it to cover your whole history, then check the row count matches what you expect.
Importing
- 1
Clients → "Import"
Opens the import panel.
- 2
Choose what you're importing
"Contacts only" for names, emails and phone numbers. "Sessions & history" if your file has dates and prices and you want past shoots brought across too.
- 3
Drop in your CSV
Up to 500 records at a time. Comma, semicolon and tab separated files all work — the format is detected, not assumed.
- 4
Check the column mapping
Columns are matched automatically, including the odd names other tools use — HoneyBook's "Participants" for client name, for instance. Fix anything it guessed wrong.
- 5
Read the preview
You get a count, sample rows, and an itemised list of what's being skipped and why — missing names, unreadable email addresses, bad dates, duplicates within the file.
- 6
Press import
Only now is anything written.
Dates, and the one thing to check
Most date formats are understood, including ISO dates, 3/4/2024, 5 Jan 2024 and Jan 5, 2024. Ambiguous ones are the problem: 03/04/2024 is 3 April in the UK and 4 March in the US.
There's a day-first checkbox for exactly this. It's set automatically based on what your file looks like, but glance at the preview dates before importing — if they look a month off, that checkbox is why. Impossible dates like 31 February are rejected rather than being rolled forward.
Recent and future sessions
If your file contains sessions in the last few days or still to come, you'll see a warning. Once imported those behave like any other booking — so if you have automations running, or a shoot dated two days ago, the usual review request or reminder will go out on schedule. Older sessions are past all of that and stay quiet.
Common questions
What if I have more than 500 records?
Import the file again afterwards. Anything already imported is recognised and skipped rather than duplicated, so you can keep going until it's all in.
Will it duplicate clients I already have?
No. Existing clients are matched and left untouched, and the summary tells you how many that was.
Can I undo an import?
Not in one action — you'd delete the records individually. This is why the preview is there. Read it before pressing the button.
